Return the hostages, return our "Ark of the Covenant"

Since the sneak attack by the Hamas terrorist group on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023 and all the atrocities committed against the population, my heart has been sad. Yes, I confess that I worry about the families of the victims, the children who suffered so much violence, the women who are still being held hostage in Gaza and the entire population of Israel who are trying to move forward slowly, one day at a time.

I remember being in Jerusalem in October of the previous year (2022) and how happy I was to participate in the day-to-day life, the Sukkot festival and praying at the Western Wall, just thanking the Eternal for being there. And a year later we were brutally attacked, when our territorial space was invaded and families were massacred by Hamas.

And now, the Media is policing our words because the terms seem very strong. And how can we describe everything that happened without using the correct terms that show the gravity of the attack? Many images only appear on social media if the internet user authorizes them.

I understand the sensitivity of some people and their limitations regarding graphic scenes, which could cause emotional discomfort and even physical discomfort. It was very difficult for me to watch some scenes and I believe that not everything was shown to the public, even to protect the victims and their families.

And the fact that graphic scenes are ignored by internet users does not mean that they did not happen. But this is how the media behaves in relation to Israel, dictating the rules and guiding the behavior of public opinion. And consequently, the attackers go unpunished. And when Israel counterattacks to defend itself, public opinion sides with those sympathetic to the terrorist cause and accuses Israel of being the oppressor.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convicted of "war crimes" (?) and "crimes against humanity" committed in Gaza? We just want the hostages back home! 124 ICC signatory countries were involved in the plot and with so much technology, none of them found the hostages. The Israeli government reacted and called the measure anti-Semitic.

It seems like a joke, but they also decided to issue an arrest warrant for the Palestinian leader of Hamas!?? I wanted to know who is this brave person who is going to arrest the terrorist!? Then I am forced to use irony: Go arrest him! It is not possible because he is already dead!

It is obvious that in this war that Hamas started, there were significant losses for the population of Gaza. But Hamas is not interested in a ceasefire. It is more profitable to continue sending missiles against Israel. But if they have money to manufacture missiles and build tunnels, they have no money for food, medicine or water? Interesting.

But I have a question: Of the 124 ICC signatory countries, has anyone sent humanitarian aid to Gaza? Has the food reached the population?

But anyway, I do not believe that the population of Gaza does not know where the hostages are. Does anyone know? But because of their religious culture, they use hostages as trophies! Where is the Bibas family? Where are our red-haired boys? So, I am forced to shout: Give us back our Ark of the Covenant!

The biblical story recorded in 1 Samuel 5 tells of the Ark of the Covenant being kidnapped by the Philistines and taken to enemy territory. And the biblical account is very simple to understand: "And it came to pass, after they had brought the Ark of the Covenant there, that the hand of the Lord was upon that city, and it brought great vexation upon the men of that city, and smote the men of it, both small and great; and boils broke out upon them. And the men that died were so wounded, that the cry of the city was very loud."

It is also worth remembering that the last Hebrew raised in Egypt wreaked great havoc there when he became an adult (Exodus 7).

Time is running out!

It really seems that the world has already forgotten the last plague that occurred and that Covid 19 is a thing of the past and that we are immune! I confess that I do not have all that confidence. And for human and religious reasons, I prefer to be a better person every day.

But when it comes to Israel and the well-being of the Jewish people, I have my guidelines well defined and I cannot ignore all the atrocities that Hamas has committed against my people. Time is running out. ending!

Return the hostages, return our Ark!

Massada, the most visited site of Israel.

google images

The story of what happened two millennia ago on top of Masada has become a symbol of the Israelis' commitment never to allow "Masada to fall again" and, fifty years after the excavation, Masada is, after Jerusalem, the most visited site of Israel.

It is possible to climb to the summit on foot, via the traditional serpent-shaped path used by Herod or via the Roman ramp. But most of the millions of tourists who visit Masada are taken from the Masada Museum and Visitors Center to the summit in giant cable cars that operate daily, with the exception of Yom Kippur.

Teddy Park Jerusalém

Teddy Park was established by the the Jerusalem Foundation at the foot of the Old City walls, across the street from Jaffa Gate. In the center of the park, which stretches over seven hectares, is Israel’s only sound and light fountain. Watch beautiful synchronized water, sound and light shows which take place four times daily with 256 nozzles, 1,800 light fixtures and a recording of original music performed by the New Jerusalem Philharmonic.

The park also has a visitors’ center which tells the story of the development of modern-day Jerusalem during Teddy Kollek’s time as mayor in the city. Corner stones describing milestones of the mayor’s life are erected along the pathways. There is also a wishing well made of Jerusalem stone, a sun dial, statues, a restored historic building and an aqueduct.

The park is accessible to people with disabilities, sight impairment and for strollers.

the Jewish sabbatical year

One thing Israel does that no other country does: Shmita, the Jewish sabbatical year, is a "time to see ourselves not in terms of what we do, but what we are and even what we could become."

In Judaism, a sabbatical year is the name of the seventh year of the seven-year cycle. This year the people of Israel were commanded to keep the rest of the land.

the rest will start from a large part of the agricultural fields in September of this year, 2021 in the Land of Israel, and according to Jewish norms, the fruits of the harvest must be left to whoever wants to pick them and nothing must be planted until the next sowing season.

Haifa - Israel's third largest city

Contrasts set the tone for historic Haifa, Israel, a city where tradition and the modern go hand in hand.

The new neighborhoods, with their futuristic buildings, share space with millenary churches and mosques, while the solid mountain faces the fluidity of the sea that houses the largest port in the country.

In a land of constant conflict over the faith, Haifa seems suspended in time: there Muslims, Jews, Christians, Orthodox and even followers of the Bahai (a popular local religion) live in harmony.
